The Bacchus Marsh SES Unit has marked its 40th birthday this month, with a celebratory dinner.<\/p>\n
The Unit was founded back in 1982, and on Saturday 19 November, members had dinner and cake, and launched a book detailing the Unit\u2019s work over the years: \u2018Lost in the Gorge \u2013 and other Emergencies\u2019.<\/p>\n
Compiled by Lyn Purcell, the book comprises stories, photos, and memories from the Bacchus Marsh Unit\u2019s 40 years of service to the community.<\/p>\n
The Bacchus Marsh SES Unit thanked all those who\u2019ve backed them over the past four decades.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019d like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last 40 years. We are incredibly proud of the service we provide for our community,\u201d the Unit wrote on social media.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo our amazing volunteers, family, friends, and supporters we thank you for joining us on this journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Unit also gave a special thanks to the SES Gisborne Unit and SES Sunbury Unit, who provided a standby rescue crew at their headquarters on Gisborne Road on Saturday night so the Bacchus Marsh crew could enjoy the evening.<\/p>\n
