Coles customers in select areas of Australia \u2013 including Bacchus Marsh \u2013 will have their online orders fulfilled by quieter, more eco-friendly vans, as part of a new trial.<\/p>\n
Solar-powered fridges equipped in vans in Bacchus Marsh, Burwood East, Aspley, The Gap, and Cairns will no longer rely on the van\u2019s engine to power cooling during grocery drop-offs, which will help to reduce emissions, fuel consumption and operational noise.<\/p>\n
In total, ten of these environmentally friendly delivery vans will join Coles\u2019 fleets in Victoria and Queensland.<\/p>\n
Coles General Manager Online Network and Growth James Geddes welcomes the innovation, and says it is an important step in the supermarket\u2019s Together to Zero emissions ambition.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are really excited to launch this trial that won\u2019t just lower emissions but will also reduce fuel usage by an average of three houses each day per vehicle, as the country faces rising petrol prices,\u201d Mr Geddes said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers will get the benefit of quieter deliveries as the vans will no longer need to idle in order to keep groceries cool.
