Young people aged 18 to 25 are invited to help guide investment and action for climate change adaptation in the Central Highlands and Wimmera. <\/p>\n
The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) in the Grampians region is seeking expressions of interest from youth to join the Regional Climate Adaptation Groups (RCAGs). <\/p>\n
The Central Highlands and Wimmera RCAGs were established in 2019 as part of the Victorian Government\u2019s \u2018Supporting our Regions to Adapt\u2019 initiative. <\/p>\n
They provide an opportunity for members of the community to lead the development and implementation of the Grampians Region Climate Adaptation Strategy. <\/p>\n
These groups continue to build and share an understanding of regional expectations in climate adaptation, encourage regional action, innovation and ownership and ensure that climate adaptation initiatives support regional communities. <\/p>\n
The groups meet regularly to discuss and develop opportunities that help communities adapt to the changing climate. <\/p>\n
DEECA Community and Partnerships Program Manager for the Grampians Region, Geoff Miller, said it was important that the RCAGs reflect their communities.<\/p>\n
\u201cClimate change and adaptation is a major concern for many young people. This is a great opportunity for them to help shape what adaptation looks like in our region,\u201d Mr Miller said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is important that our RGAGs are a true representation of the communities they represent, which is why we are looking for interest from young people to be involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
Expressions of interest for youth involvement in the Central Highlands and Wimmera RGAGs are open until 7 February 2023. <\/p>\n
