{"id":15052,"date":"2023-06-02T09:00:46","date_gmt":"2023-06-01T23:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=15052"},"modified":"2024-02-01T16:54:23","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T05:54:23","slug":"battle-of-the-tigers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/battle-of-the-tigers\/","title":{"rendered":"Battle of the Tigers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BM Tigers Baseball<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A rematch from the first round of the season saw the Bacchus Marsh Tigers take on the Corio Tigers who were placed 3rd on the ladder, however this time BM triumphed with a solid 6-2 win.<\/p>\n<p>Starting pitchers were James Bailey for the for BM Tigers, and Joel Hughes for Corio.<\/p>\n<p>Corio were unable to score in their first at bat, while leadoff batter for BM Nathan Gell continued his good form, dispatching the ball to left field and getting safely to first. He stole second then was brought home by the batting of Jonathan Bell, giving BM Tigers a 1 \u2013 0 advantage. <\/p>\n<p>Corio took up the challenge and scored two runs from doubles by Andrew Henderson and John Brown in the second innings to swap the lead.<\/p>\n<p>An injury to Corio\u2019s catcher in the third innings may have swung the game in BM\u2019s favour. While the score remained 1-2 until the bottom of the fourth, Corio\u2019s pitcher J Hughes walked 5 batters and BM\u2019s James Early made good contact with the ball to grab back a 4-2 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Each team made pitching changes in the fifth innings, James Early came on for BM Tigers holding out Corio. Bacchus Marsh batters took to Daniel Stones, the replacement pitcher for Corio with 5 hits adding 2 extra runs before time was called ending the game.<\/p>\n<p>BM Tigers are settling into a strong format and are proving themselves to be contenders. They have notched up wins against each of the other teams in this division.
