Local artists have thanked Regional Arts Victoria (RAV) for providing a program locally last week, connecting artists and providing fantastic one-on-one advice.<\/p>\n
RAV is an independent, not-for-profit group that partners with every level of government to support regional Victorians in making, participating in, and experiencing creative work.<\/p>\n
Last week RAV brought its \u2018RAV in Residence\u2019 program to Moorabool Shire, with a Creative Funding Forum and Network & Nibbles session on Tuesday afternoon, and private chats held across Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Mount Egerton artist Min Ray \u2013 whose \u2018Superstellar\u2019 piece many would recognise at Lerderderg Library \u2013 made full use of the program, attending both events and having a one-on-one chat with RAV\u2019s Rhiannon Poley.<\/p>\n
Ms Ray said the day was fantastic, and she\u2019d love to see more support for local artists in the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very good, it was so informative. I\u2019ve learnt a lot, and I feel like there\u2019s a lot of support out there for artists like myself in regional areas. The staff members are so approachable, and very helpful. It was a fantastic experience,\u201d she told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a meeting with Rhiannon on Tuesday. I had a few project ideas and she was able to guide me to see which funding might be suitable for certain projects. Not necessarily all of my projects fit well for grants\u2026on Tuesday there was FRRR and Creative Partnerships Australia available to chat to as well, and Moorabool Shire Council as well.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was super helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Poley, who is RAV\u2019s Membership Engagement Coordinator, said the feedback from local artists had been \u201creally positive\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think anyone\u2019s had a bad word to say\u2026they\u2019ve had responses like \u2018I feel really energised\u2019, \u2018I have lots of ideas now\u2019, \u2018I\u2019ve got a lot of homework to do now\u2019. It\u2019s been very very positive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we\u2019re doing the one-on-ones, I feel like that\u2019s the most valuable. We\u2019re able to tailor the advice to specifically what their needs are, rather than them going to a forum and trying to gather some information and leaving with more questions, they\u2019re able to sit with us and have really earnest discussions about their projects and goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of our connections, we\u2019re able to point them in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
