The Darley Community Art Garden recently celebrated community spirit with a Sustainability Fair, solidifying its commitment to fostering sustainability and local collaboration. The rich history of the land, coupled with contemporary green practices and expert insights from the likes of Jeff Jones, rendered the day a success. <\/p>\n
A notable turnout was the presence of 14 local groups. They proudly displayed and celebrated their eco-friendly initiatives in Moorabool. <\/p>\n
“The highlight was these passionate groups showcasing their efforts, genuinely inspiring numerous attendees. Many were not only moved to be more conscious of the environment but felt compelled to join these initiatives,” Susan from the Darley Community Art Garden told The Moorabool News.
\nSuch enthusiasm wasn\u2019t exclusive to the attendees. <\/p>\n
“Among the participants, 50 spirited volunteers, including a young boy of eight, demonstrated their commitment. He was selling his crafted dog treats,” said Susan.<\/p>\n
Supported by the Community Bank Bacchus Marsh, the fair was a captivating blend of learning about sustainability, musical entertainment, and fresh food offerings. <\/p>\n
“It\u2019s about understanding the local options available for those desiring a sustainable lifestyle, as many are keen but unsure of the steps to take,” she said.<\/p>\n
Jill, another dedicated volunteer at the garden, added, “It\u2019s not just about the gardens fostering community ties. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe Sustainability Fair helps promote local services that guide individuals towards a sustainable life.”<\/p>\n
A diverse array of sustainability-focused individuals and groups were part of the event. Names like the Platypus Alliance, Landcare, Rotary, Lions Club, and Moorabool Environmental Group were among those that participated, among others.<\/p>\n
The fair wasn’t solely for the adults. Kids found themselves engrossed in an assortment of crafty endeavours and a toy swap table. Plus, the latest garden installation from Bacchus Marsh Grammar was a new art piece. The garden’s wood-fired oven churned out scrumptious focaccias, while melodies from the Gordon Ukulele music group added to the festive atmosphere.<\/p>\n
Susan encourages those who missed out on the Fair to join the garden another day to learn about local sustainable practices. <\/p>\n
“Our garden is open every Wednesday and Saturday between 10 am to 12 pm. And, on the first Saturday of each month, join us for our op shop and the lively produce swap.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
