The Greendale CFA hosted an Open Day recently, a vivid display of commitment and readiness as Moorabool steps into the summer season. <\/p>\n
Scott Lowry, a dedicated member of the Greendale CFA for the past 12 years, shared his insights with The Moorabool News. <\/p>\n
“I joined the Greendale CFA brigade because I wanted to put back into the community by utilising skills learnt and developed through my employment and life,” he said.<\/p>\n
Mr Lowry\u2019s journey with the brigade reflects a deep-seated desire to contribute to his community. This sentiment is at the core of the Greendale CFA’s ethos, welcoming anyone interested in joining their ranks. <\/p>\n
“If any community member wants to get involved, they are more than welcome to join in either in an operational or non-operation role as the brigade is recruiting at the moment.”<\/p>\n
The Open Day was not just an event but a symbol of readiness and unity. While there were plenty of family friendly and kid activities to get the younger generations involved, the focus remained solely on the brigade\u2019s purpose and its preparation for the upcoming fire season. Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about property bushfire risk and what’s involved in volunteering as a Greendale guardian.<\/p>\n
“The brigade has been busy over the last few months continually ramping up the training and getting prepared for the fire season,\u201d Mr Lowry said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the last few months all the brigade\u2019s equipment and trucks have been checked and serviced and all are 100 per cent prepared for the onset of the fire season.”<\/p>\n
Preparation is crucial for any brigade and given they are all volunteers, they are on call 24\/7 and prepared for any situation.<\/p>\n
The Open Day highlighted the volunteer-driven nature of the brigade and showed their dedication, and commitment to safeguarding their community.<\/p>\n
