{"id":18354,"date":"2017-07-19T02:15:58","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T02:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=1106"},"modified":"2024-02-02T16:31:09","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T05:31:09","slug":"free-jabs-for-teens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/free-jabs-for-teens\/","title":{"rendered":"FREE jabs for teens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">By Jessica Howard<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Moorabool teens will be offered free vaccines against a potentially deadly strain of meningococcal disease.<br \/>\nResidents aged 15-19 who haven\u2019t been vaccinated against the Meningococcal W strand can receive the free vaccination at the Lerderderg Library in Bacchus Marsh on Saturday July 29.<br \/>\nThe free vaccination session, provided by Moorabool Shire Council\u2019s environmental health team, will ensure more of the community is vaccinated by offering the service to teenagers who missed it at school, or don\u2019t attend school.<br \/>\nThe Meningococcal W vaccine was this year added to secondary school schedules by the State Government.<br \/>\nMoorabool Shire Mayor, David Edwards said in 2016, the most common strand of invasive meningococcal disease was the W strand.<br \/>\n\u201cCouncil offering this service to those aged 15 to 19, who didn\u2019t receive it at school, is highly important,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nBooking are essential for the free service, which will commence at 8:30am on Saturday.<br \/>\nTeenagers under the age of 18 must have parental consent to be vaccinated.<br \/>\nA consent form is available on Council\u2019s website under Latest News: www.moorbaool.vic.gov.au and can be printed and scanned.<br \/>\nConsent forms can be brought along on the day or taken into one of Council\u2019s offices in Darley, Lerderderg Library or Ballan prior to July 27.<br \/>\nTo make a booking, contact 5366 7100 or info@moorabool.vic.gov.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jessica Howard Moorabool teens will be offered free vaccines against a potentially deadly strain of meningococcal disease.
