{"id":18359,"date":"2017-08-09T02:28:04","date_gmt":"2017-08-09T02:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=1162"},"modified":"2024-02-02T16:38:40","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T05:38:40","slug":"70th-wedding-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/70th-wedding-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"70th wedding anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>By Kate Taylor<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1164 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_8479-WEBSITE-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/>It\u2019s a wedding anniversary that very few couples will see \u2013 but Bacchus Marsh\u2019s Marie and James (Jim) Ginnane are about to celebrate 70 years of marriage.<br \/>\nThe traditional gift is platinum (a precious silvery-white metal), however many charts on the topic do not even extend beyond the 70-year mark.<br \/>\nFor Marie and Jim, it all started after having met at dances in Frankston and Mornington \u2013 before the war took James overseas in the army.<br \/>\n\u201cJim was quite a good bloke, so good in fact that he caught up with Marie as soon as he could when he arrived back in Australia,\u201d says son John, reading from family papers on the couple.<br \/>\nJohn is one of the couple\u2019s four children \u2013 with eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild &#8211; his parents married on 29 July 1947.<br \/>\nMarie and Jim had moved to Coimadai, eventually moving into Bacchus Marsh, where Jim was heavily involved with the RSL and Maddingley Football Club and Marie worked at the local milk factory \u2013 also volunteering for St John\u2019s Ambulance, and with Independent Living Assistance Group.<br \/>\n\u201cMum was in the Arts Society, and she still paints, both were active community members.<br \/>\n\u201cThey still live independently in the house in Bacchus Marsh where us four<br \/>\nchildren grew up, and they are often down the street in their buggies doing their shopping etc,\u201d John said.<br \/>\nThe 70th anniversary was celebrated with a family lunch at Stoney\u2019s Bistro.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Kate Taylor It\u2019s a wedding anniversary that very few couples will see \u2013 but Bacchus Marsh\u2019s Marie and James (Jim) Ginnane are about to celebrate 70 years of marriage.
