{"id":18413,"date":"2018-03-21T22:24:54","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T22:24:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=1870"},"modified":"2024-02-02T17:42:13","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T06:42:13","slug":"police-launch-eyewatch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/police-launch-eyewatch\/","title":{"rendered":"Police launch Eyewatch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Jessica Howard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new Facebook page has been created to help connect local police with the community. <\/p>\n<p>Eyewatch provides updates from the Moorabool policing area, which stretches over 6000 square kilometres of rural properties and encompasses 128 towns throughout Moorabool, Golden Plains and Hepburn. <\/p>\n<p>Bacchus Marsh Police Sergeant, Mark Bacon said the page, which was launched on March 5, is the first of its kind for Moorabool. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe page will be a direct link to the local community to keep them up to date with police operations, requests to assist police identify offenders, community education, and tips and advice on crime prevention,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>Project Eyewatch is a Victoria Police program operating in more than 40 regions around the state. <\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, Moorabool\u2019s Eyewatch page had attracted over 1,300 followers. <\/p>\n<p>Posts have included information on the Labour Day long weekend traffic raid, the police march at Daylesford\u2019s ChillOut Festival and updates on lost and found items including a black and yellow drone handed into the Bacchus Marsh police station in January. <\/p>\n<p>The page will also highlight wanted criminals on a weekly basis, with information and photographs shared to the site, in the hope of finding members of the community who are currently wanted on an outstanding warrant.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Warrant Wednesdays\u2019 started on March 14 and saw a number of community members providing information on the person in question\u2019s whereabouts.  <\/p>\n<p>Eyewatch is controlled from the Bacchus Marsh Police Station, however will cater to all 128 towns located in Moorabool\u2019s policing area. <\/p>\n<p>The page is not designed to be used as a mechanism to report crime.
