{"id":18454,"date":"2018-12-06T10:00:17","date_gmt":"2018-12-05T23:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=2330"},"modified":"2024-02-02T18:08:14","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T07:08:14","slug":"book-in-to-be-a-curious-creature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/book-in-to-be-a-curious-creature\/","title":{"rendered":"Book in to be a curious creature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An initiative to get kids reading is returning to Moorabool libraries this Summer.<br \/>\nThe national Summer Reading Club is returning to Moorabool Shire Libraries, and online at summerreadingclub.org.au.<br \/>\nCreated for children, from pre-school age to 17, the Summer Reading Club is a free program led by State Library of Queensland (SLQ) that inspires imaginations and instils a love of libraries and reading.<br \/>\nThe 2018 theme, Curious Creatures, encourages eager young readers to discover new worlds as they explore and connect with a curiosity of creatures through a range of interactive activities available in libraries and online.<br \/>\nMore than 43,000 children registered with the Summer Reading Club in 2017, reading over 360,000 books between them over summer, and organisers are hoping participants will crack half a million books in 2018.<br \/>\nSummer Reading Club members can also meet 21 new Australian authors and illustrators online, read their helpful creative hints and tips and preview exclusives of their up and coming work.Online participants will also have the opportunity to blog with children\u2019s authors, Dr Cameron Stelzer and Emma Middleton, search for answers to Encyclopaedia Britannica\u2019s sponsored quiz, craft a What Happens Next story ending to Dave Lowe\u2019s story starter, share their book raves and artwork, and lots more.<br \/>\nSummer Reading Club will run from 3 December 2018 to 18 January 2019.<br \/>\nFor more information contact the library on 53667100 or visit www.moorabool.vic.gov.au\/libraries<br \/>\nThe Summer Reading Club is delivered in partnership in partnership with the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), the Australian Public Library Alliance (APLA), and public libraries across Australia, including Queensland\u2019s Indigenous Knowledge Centres.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An initiative to get kids reading is returning to Moorabool libraries this Summer.
