\nThe volunteer superheroes on the Ballan Autumn Festival (BAF) committee came up with the idea and have different coloured t-shirts that will grace the town leading into the annual Ballan Autumn Festival, returning to the Moorabool Shire on Sunday 15 March.
\nIt is not hard to guess what the 2020 theme will be, and organizers are asking visitors to \u201ccelebrate local superheroes\u201d by dressing up as their favourite superhero for the annual costume competition and street parade.
\nBAF President, Deryck Carruthers said they chose a \u201csuperheroes\u201d theme because it\u2019s exciting and everyone loves a superhero.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s a bold theme for those who want to be imaginative and provides an opportunity to recognize our local heroes as a community.
\n\u201cIn our 45th year, BAF combines the traditional country festival with the boundless energy of superheroes and a team committed to showcasing the very best of the region.
\n\u201cThis year we\u2019ll celebrating the unique identity of this part of the world with great local acts as well as renowned local produce and artisan craft,\u201d he said.
\nThe festival is scheduled to have more than one-hundred stalls, with a dazzling diversity of shopping, food, sights, events and activities.
\nThe event is the highlight of the Ballan public calendar, regularly drawing 10,000 visitors to the otherwise quiet township and will run from 9am-4pm.
\nMr Carruthers said the CWA cake competition will be superhero-themed, while pet-show competitors are encouraged to join the festivities by creating superhero costumes for their pets.
\n\u201cWe\u2019re having wandering superheroes on the day with plenty of fun stalls, great food, refreshments, rides and fantastic surprises.
\n\u201cThe Ballan Autumn Festival is one of Moorabool\u2019s biggest tourist events, and we pride ourselves on being an event for everyone,\u201d he said.
\nAnd one last message to visitors, is to charge your mobile phone battery as major festival sponsor, Moorabool Wind Farm, has negotiated the appearance of some super-special famous superheroes.
\n\u201cThey\u2019ll be happy to pose for photos with child fans and adult ones alike.\u201d
