The heritage listed Avenue of Honour has stood in Bacchus Marsh for over 100-years however, a storm that lashed the region tested the century old elms.<\/p>\n

Moorabool was hit hard by yet another weather event on Thursday 28 October with a number of trees in the Avenue effected and parts of the shire left without power, leaving fallen power lines and trees in its wake.<\/p>\n

Some areas remained without power throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n

According to a Council spokesperson, \u201cfour trees were severely impacted around the Woolpack Road intersection, and minimal damage was identified through the rest of the Avenue of Honour\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurther assessments by Council`s arborist have identified that these trees will require removal due to the poor condition they are now in. They are deemed safe at present but will be removed in the near future,\u201d Council\u2019s spokesperson told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was also extensive damage to the powerlines and to fence lines around the intersection. Clean up works on all the damage will commence\/continue this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the Dales Creek area, two homes were destroyed and deemed uninhabitable, with a further two buildings destroyed in Darley and Greendale. Three homes have been deemed damaged but habitable.<\/p>\n
