{"id":19215,"date":"2017-09-22T00:21:04","date_gmt":"2017-09-22T00:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=1287"},"modified":"2024-02-02T00:10:36","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T13:10:36","slug":"scotland-coach-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/scotland-coach-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Scotland coach of the year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Jessica Howard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Darley Football Club President Ray Newton was asked to explain the Devil\u2019s 2017<br \/>\nsuccess so far, he had just two words \u2013 Heath Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The playing coach was bestowed the Ballarat Football League\u2019s Coach of the Year award<br \/>\nduring the league best and fairest at Tabcorp Park in Melton on Monday (September 18).<\/p>\n<p>Scotland played as a junior for Darley before embarking on an AFL playing career with<br \/>\nCollingwood and Carlton.<\/p>\n<p>He returned this year and carried the senior team into third position on the ladder and<br \/>\ninto the grand final clash against Bacchus Marsh this Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Newton said Scotland had an influence over the club that could not be<br \/>\nunderestimated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScotland has the upmost respect from every single person here at the club.<br \/>\n\u201cHe is definitely best on ground at all times, he is an absolute marvel on the field and his<br \/>\ncoaching is just superb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason we are in the position that we are right now is because of Heath Scotland and<br \/>\nthe moves he makes both as a player and a coach. He\u2019s like a chest master out on the field,<br \/>\nhe is just terrific.
