Australian women are nearly three times more likely than men, to experience violence from an intimate partner.
\nIn an aim to bring awareness to violence against women, Djerriwarrh Health Services will again be running the \u2018Walk with Her\u2019 event this month.
\nA joint initiative between Djerriwarrh Health Services and a group of local women called \u2018Women Making it Happen\u2019, aims to help drive action towards achieving gender equality and the prevention of violence against women.
\nThe \u2018Walk with Her\u2019 event has been running for the past three years, but the event will make its way to Bacchus Marsh for the first time this year.
\nThis year also marks the first year the event will be part of the 16-Days of Activism against gender-based violence, as it falls on International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
\nEvent organiser Bernadette Duffy said the walk is named as such, \u201cbecause we need the whole community to walk alongside women in this journey.\u201d
\n\u201cGender equality and preventing violence against women is everyone\u2019s responsibility,\u201d she said.
\n\u2018Walk with Her\u2019 will be held at Maddingley Park on Sunday November 25. Free activities on the day include a female cricket exhibition match, BBQ, music and arts activities.
