\nFrom this Thursday 31 January to Sunday 3 February a crew of 200 workers will undertake around-the-clock construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade project.
\nWhilst the trains are \u2018off the tracks\u2019 work on the project will include, but not limited to, laying track and installing 800 tonnes of ballast (crushed rock) for passing loops at Millbrook and Ballan, and building foundations for columns to support the new platform and overpass at Bacchus Marsh Station.
\nMinister for Transport Infrastructure Jacinta Allan said Ballarat line commuters would be well aware of the significant progress being made on the project.
\n\u201cWe would like to thank passengers for their patience while we get on with this important work.
\n\u201cWe’re entering the final year of construction on the project with works on track for completion by the end of 2019,\u201d Minister Allan said.
\n\u201cOnce finished, the half-a-billion-dollar Ballarat Line Upgrade will enable much-needed extra services during peak periods, and a train every 40 minutes off-peak.”
\nA Rail Projects Victoria spokesperson said the entire journey between Wendouree, Ballarat and Southern Cross Station will have coaches replace trains from Thursday 31 January to Sunday 3 February so crews can complete the work safely and efficiently.
\nPassengers are urged to plan ahead while coaches replace trains and allow 45 minutes\u2019 extra travel time.
