The Halletts Way southern extension officially opened with the Moorabool 4 Fun Run on Sunday 13 August 2017, but it hasn\u2019t been much fun for pedestrians and night road users ever since.
\nThe street lighting has not been switched on or connected with many users of the new roadway complaining via social media pages.
\nIn the last two weeks orange roadside bollards along with workmen have adjourned the road, implying the power might finally be switched on. Unfortunately, the current roadworks and lighting issue are not related.
\nMoorabool Council responded to questions from the Moorabool News in regard to the works.
\n\u201cThe works currently being undertaken on site involves the installation of a watermain to connect the new Underbank estate to reticulated water. A new roundabout will also be constructed on Halletts Way commencing soon as part of Underbank estate,\u201d General Manager for Infrastructure Phil Jeffrey said.
\n\u201cCouncil approached the developers to undertake these works at the same time as the Halletts Way extension project in 2017, but the developers were not in a position to contribute at the time,\u201d he said.
\nIn terms of lighting, Mr Jeffrey said the contractor (Winslow) is still required to rectify a small number of electrical non-conformances.
\n\u201cThis work is being undertaken in the coming weeks and subject to Powercor acceptance, will enable energization of the lighting.\u201d
\nThe Halletts Way\/O\u2019Leary Way 1.4 kilometre southern extension is the largest infrastructure project delivered by Moorabool Shire Council and provides a western link road for Bacchus Marsh, and is modelled to carry 10,000-12,000 vehicles per day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
