Ballan Tennis Club has received a grant to help encourage young people in the community to pick up a racket.
\nThe club received $3060 earlier this month from Moorabool Shire Council as part of the Round 2 Community Grants initiative.
\nClub President Anna Connally said the money will go toward providing coaches for junior members of the team, something the club has struggled with in the last few years.
\n\u201cWe\u2019ve had a bit of trouble finding younger players, and we haven\u2019t had a junior coach for about three to four years,\u201d said Ms Connally.
\nThe grant will also help subsidise lesson costs for younger players, allowing juniors to take 30 minute small-group lessons at $5 per person.
\nOn what the future of the club looks like, Ms Connally said that she \u201chopes for more than one team of junior players\u201d to compete in the Buninyong and District Tennis Association, and the new accessibility of coaching will \u201cenable kids to have a go at playing\u201d.
\nAlthough the courts at the Ballan Recreational Reserve are currently being upgraded, the club is currently situated at Myrniong Recreational Reserve until the end of April.
