A GRANT of more than fifteen-thousand dollars has been provided to a local cemetery with the money going towards maintenance works for the grounds where many people have been laid to rest.<\/p>\n
The cash is coming from the State Government\u2019s $700,000 Cemetery and Grants Program with Ballan (New) Cemetery Trust one of the latest recipients.<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle, announced last week that the Ballan Cemetery has received a $16,650 grant as part of the latest round funding.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s important that the Ballan community can have a comfortable place they can go to remember their loved ones, and this funding will make that happen,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Cemetery and Grants Program is aimed at helping cover costs of things like maintenance and equipment at burial grounds across the state<\/p>\n
The grants support cemeteries with upgrades and costs relating to infrastructure, facilities, maintenance, equipment, and training.<\/p>\n
Money is allocated two times a year, and applications for the next round close on 31 March.<\/p>\n
