FOR the third year running Creswick will be hosting CresFest 24, from 5 to 7 April.<\/p>\n
Within the forested Victorian Goldfields town, just a short drive from Ballan, Gordon, Myrniong and Bacchus Marsh, the streets and historic buildings will be alive with folk and roots music, with world class acts mingling and performing with passionate local musicians.<\/p>\n
Two local bands from the Moorabool district are the Gordon Gypsies with their traditional Irish folk songs and exotic tunes based on eastern music, and the Ballan Community Street Band who will be entertaining the crowds with their lively street music.<\/p>\n
One member of the Gordon Gypsies is also a CresFest volunteer.<\/p>\n
Last year Charlie Farrell was volunteering with YouThrive an organisation, based in Creswick, providing leadership and development opportunities for young people.<\/p>\n
It was there that he heard about CresFest and jumped at the opportunity to volunteer.<\/p>\n
During his time at CresFest Charlie has learnt a great deal about the running of a festival, including social media and marketing skills.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s also learnt a lot about folk and roots music by meeting so many incredible artists.<\/p>\n
\u201cVolunteering has taught me how good it feels to be part of an event that brings so much to the community,\u201d Farrell said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2018ve met many great and interesting people and look forward to catching up with them again.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Gordon Gypsies, of which Charlie is a member, recently celebrated its one-year anniversary and the members are beginning to write some original tunes which they hope to play at CresFest 24.<\/p>\n
The Ballan Community Street Band has been a fun adventure into street music with its lively songs and colourful performances.<\/p>\n
Formed back in 2022, it quickly got out on the streets, performing at a variety of events with its quirky songs and infectious energy.<\/p>\n
The members have been busily rehearsing their dance moves, ironing our costumes and polishing their instruments, excited for their first appearance at CresFest.<\/p>\n
