WITH Easter now behind us, the Moorabool Shire is asking residents to make sure their pets are registered.<\/p>\n
Last financial year, 8243 cats and dogs were registered with the shire.<\/p>\n
Ensuring your pet has an up-to-date registration tag ensures the shire can reunite you will your pet using the tag, bypassing the pound, if your furry friend gets lost.<\/p>\n
Reduced dog and cat registration fees of $69 and $62.80 respectively can be issued if the pet is desexed, over 10 years of age, or kept for breeding at a registered domestic animal business, or registered with an applicable organisation and the owner is also a member of that applicable organisation, a dog that has undergone obedience training with an approved organisations, or a dog kept for the purpose of working stock.<\/p>\n
Otherwise, the fee is $213.20, unless the pet is a foster animal or has been declared dangerous, menacing, or of a restricted breed.<\/p>\n
Registration renewals are due by April 10 each year.<\/p>\n
As a requirement under the Domestic Animals Act 1994, all dogs and cats over the age of three months must be registered with the shire.<\/p>\n
