A battle seems imminent at Kryal Castle over what might best be described as a Game of Thrones.
\nToilets are at the heart of the royal problem, holding back a permit application to build 20-permanent glamping sites within the castle grounds.
\nThe key players in the epic battle are the applicants – Kryal Castle\u2019s recently installed owners, as well as the local water authority Central Highlands Water, along with Moorabool Shire Council.
\nBoth CHW and MSC have concerns that the waste water management system is not good enough.
\n\u201cThe current septic system is not adequately servicing Kryal Castle\u2019s current use. The addition of camping and caravan park to the site cannot be supported unless the existing septic system is substantially upgraded, and\/or the site is connected to a reticulated sewerage system,\u201d read part of a report included in the agenda for the May 1 council meeting.
\nThe report was not heard, however, as the application was withdrawn before the meeting.
\nThe report did note that the new owners of the castle intend to increase its annual visitor numbers from 80,000 to 150,000 in the medium term, while the permit application itself included promotional material.
\n\u201cKryal Castle has, over recent years, been granted permits to have grass-area camping for up to 200 guests at no more than six events per year \u2013 with a stipulated condition that port-a-loos must be provided.
\nAs with the show, there is a wait until the next instalment \u2013 the matter is due before council again in June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
