{"id":2839,"date":"2019-05-13T14:28:23","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T04:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=2839"},"modified":"2024-02-02T19:57:52","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T08:57:52","slug":"target-155-still-applies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/target-155-still-applies\/","title":{"rendered":"Target 155 still applies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Western Water is reminding customers of the importance of conserving water despite recent rainfall.<br \/>\nThe future water supply is secure and sufficient, despite the low reservoir levels, to meet residents\u2019 needs, but customers are reminded that permanent water saving rules and Target 155 still apply.<br \/>\nGraham Holt, General Manager, Customer, Community Relations and Operations said while there has been some much-needed rain recently, the forecast over the coming months predicts below average rainfall<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s important for our customers to continue monitoring their water usage,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nThe Target 155 campaign is a voluntary water conservation program designed to encourage residents to restrict their water usage to 155 litres per person per day.<br \/>\nAccording to data from the Bureau of Meteorology, rainfall for the last few months was \u201cvery much below average\u201d.<br \/>\nThe low rainfall is reflected in Merrimu Reservoir, located near Bacchus Marsh, which is only 26.4 per cent of its full capacity.<br \/>\nMerrimu Reservoir is the traditional water source for residents in Bacchus Marsh and Melton, but water can be sourced or supplemented by the Melbourne water system when necessary.<br \/>\nCurrently, residents in Bacchus Marsh are receiving water supplied by Merrimu Reservoir.<br \/>\nMr Holt said Western Water data shows that during the past month customers used on average 220 litres per person per day, 65 litres more than the voluntary 155 litre target.<br \/>\n\u201cWestern Water recommends saving water by turning off the tap while brushing teeth, using a pool cover, or using grey water in the garden,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nFor further ways to save water, visit the Western Water website.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/website-3-1-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2841\" \/><figure id=\"attachment_2842\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2842\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/website-4-1-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2842\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photos &#8211; Helen Tatchell<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Western Water is reminding customers of the importance of conserving water despite recent rainfall.
