Photo: UNIFORM PHOTOGRAPHY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Days later, 13 volunteers and staff from the Unit were honoured for their bravery with Commendation for Service awards, almost 12 months on from the Eynesbury bus crash on 16 May 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The former incident saw our local SES assist the Ballan CFA and Melton FRV in rescuing 27 students and 4 adults, after a B-double truck collided with a bus near Condons Lane, flipping the bus upside down.<\/p>\n<p>At the Eynesbury crash, 45 school children were rescued after a truck collided with the rear of a school bus on Exford Road.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 598px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/05\/Uniform_Photography__47937.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"598\" height=\"399\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Quality people: Friends and family of Bacchus Marsh&#8217;s SES volunteers joined them at their Gisborne Road HQ to commemorate the awards. Photo: UNIFORM PHOTOGRAPHY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>VICSES Chief Officer Operations Tim Wiebusch, who presented the local volunteers with the awards, said the Eynesbury crash in particular had taken a physical, mental, and emotional toll on volunteers, but they had all performed exceptionally.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our VICSES members&#8217; exceptional dedication and depth of skills were evident in the well-coordinated and specialised approach to this significant incident, which underscored their commitment to serving the Victorian community,&#8221; Mr Wiebusch said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/05\/Uniform_Photography__47905.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"399\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Serving the community: Gavin Kelly (centre) was one of eleven local SES members who received a Commendation for Service, for his efforts following the Pentland Hills bus crash.
