A STAR netballer whose sporting career began in Moorabool has earned her latest accolade, making the Reserves squad for a Super Netball side.<\/p>\n
Twenty-one-year-old Indya Forde’s first experience with sport was Under 6s at Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics, but from June she’ll play in the Reserves side of one of the country’s biggest netball teams, Melbourne Vixens.<\/p>\n
After injury ruled her out of sport for a couple of years, Forde began playing Under 17 netball with Darley, and more recently has played with the Colac Tigers in the Geelong Football Netball League, and the Geelong Cougars in the Victorian Netball League.<\/p>\n
While playing for the Diamonds is her dream, Forde said her next goal is to make the firsts.<\/p>\n
“It’ll be great to get into that high performance environment a bit more,” she said.<\/p>\n
“I’m very nervous, it’s very exciting though.<\/p>\n
“I don’t even think… far ahead. I’m focusing more on the most achievable goal at the moment, which would be playing Super Netball.<\/p>\n
“There are steps further than that I’d like to think about\u2026but you have to make a few steps forward before thinking that far ahead.”<\/p>\n
The Super Netball Reserves competition is a new development, only being announced by Netball Australia late last month.<\/p>\n
The competition will run over five weeks from 1 June, helping highlight talented players and providing additional match time for athletes on the cusp of the Super Netball season.<\/p>\n
