{"id":29380,"date":"2024-05-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-18T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=29380"},"modified":"2024-05-15T21:12:01","modified_gmt":"2024-05-15T11:12:01","slug":"the-natural-beauty-of-blue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/living\/the-natural-beauty-of-blue\/","title":{"rendered":"The natural beauty of blue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A LOCAL artist&#8217;s captivating work is now on display at Lerderderg Library, showcasing the depth possible with the cyanotype process.<\/p>\n<p>Denise Martin is a member of Bacchus Marsh&#8217;s BMAC Gallery, and is displaying a range of works that are up for sale.<\/p>\n<p>The art form she works in is a photographic technique that uses light sensitive paper, dye, and a negative to create a positive image.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/05\/IMG_6625_92482.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The cyanotype process is how blueprints used to be produced.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Martin&#8217;s works also use plants in the process, as part of her favoured theme of nature.<\/p>\n<p>As the cyan in the name implies, this results in a beautiful blue colour, though Martin&#8217;s works are a deeper shade of blue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m inspired by nature, it&#8217;s my passion. This process, cyanotype, is what they used to use to produce blueprints in the old days,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/05\/IMG_6770_92498.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Passion: Mixed media creative Denise Martin enjoys working with a nature theme. You never know what you&#8217;re going to get, you can&#8217;t really replicate anything exactly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Making them takes quite a while, the embroidery hoops are hand-embroidered after being cyanotyped.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/05\/IMG_6776_92523.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Passion: Mixed media creative Denise Martin enjoys working with a nature theme.
