{"id":29782,"date":"2024-06-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-05-31T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=29782"},"modified":"2024-05-29T22:54:04","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T12:54:04","slug":"its-raining-cash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/its-raining-cash\/","title":{"rendered":"It&#8217;s raining cash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than seven hundred golf balls rained down on Darley Park on the weekend, and a premiership hero walked away ten thousand dollars richer as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Though it wasn&#8217;t a happy day on the scoreboard for the Devils, going down 37 to 104 to the Melton Bloods, the half time event might have softened the blow for Billy Myers.<\/p>\n<p>Players and spectators were cleared from the ground, and a helicopter descended until it was hovering over where a golf tee had been set up.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/06\/IMG_2320_38975.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lucky winner: Billy Myers was awarded a $10,000 cheque after his ball landed closest to the tee on Saturday. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>About 740 golf balls were dropped from the helicopter, with the closest to the tee, and the winner of the $10,000 prize, being the ball marked Q42, which had been purchased by Billy Myers.<\/p>\n<p>Darley Football Netball Club senior president, Mark Shelly, thanked all those who had purchased balls for the event, with proceeds going towards new netball seating.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We ended up raising about $37,000 on the day, which was fantastic,&#8221; Mr Shelly said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s an outstanding effort by both the junior and senior clubs, we&#8217;re just overwhelmed by the generosity and support from both our own members, and the wider community.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/06\/IMG_7172_38970.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Winner found: Darley FNC Senior President Mark Shelly walks off the ground with the winning ball: Q42.
