{"id":29935,"date":"2024-06-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-08T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=29935"},"modified":"2024-06-05T21:22:04","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T11:22:04","slug":"art-remembers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/living\/art-remembers\/","title":{"rendered":"Art remembers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLAN Arts Space&#8217;s new exhibition is one to remember.<\/p>\n<p>The Memories showcase opened on 24 May, and is open Friday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm, until the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Featuring the work of ten different local artists, the exhibition explores artists&#8217; memories of people, places, and items from the past, such as rollerskates and a button jar.<\/p>\n<p>Debra Brown is one of the contributing artists, using pastel and acrylic in her art.<\/p>\n<p>Her piece, Afternoon in Siena, was inspired by a holiday in Italy, but also carries a more personal connection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s inspired by one of my favourite trips. I went because, as a little girl, I always wanted to go to Italy. I have cousins who are Italian,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mum passed away recently, and she used to always say, &#8216;You&#8217;ll never go&#8217;. So when she passed away, I decided, yes, I&#8217;m going.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She died from cancer, so I thought I&#8217;d do something that she thought I&#8217;d never do.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/06\/IMG_7354_28466.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Memories is open for all of June.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Memories are a pretty broad topic\u2026there&#8217;s all kinds of different memories and emotions people have put into this exhibition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>To see the Memories exhibition, head to the Ballan Arts Space at 117B Inglis Street, Ballan, next to Springfields Garage.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an exhibition you won&#8217;t soon forget.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BALLAN Arts Space&#8217;s new exhibition is one to remember.
