BACCHUS Marsh Football Netball Club has received thousands of dollars as part of the Melbourne Mavericks Community Roots program.<\/p>\n
The grants aim to fund upgrades to club facilities and allow junior netballers to see their heroes on the house.<\/p>\n
Under the program, the club has also received tickets to Mavericks home games to reward players, families, and volunteers who’ve stood by the Cobras throughout challenging times.<\/p>\n
Member of the club’s Junior Netball Committee, Megan Nixon, thanked the Mavericks for their support.<\/p>\n
“One of our mums, Hayley Farrugia, is an avid netball watcher, and she asked if the club would be interested in applying for one of these grants,” Ms Nixon said.<\/p>\n
“She applied for us, and we’ve received a $2500 cash prize, which we’ll use to install strip heaters in our netball sheds.<\/p>\n
“We’ve also received $5000 worth of tickets for Melbourne Mavericks home games to use over the next two years, so that was pretty cool, as we wouldn’t be able to use all the tickets this season.<\/p>\n
“A couple of weeks ago some of our girls made use of some of those tickets and attended the game against the Swifts.<\/p>\n
“The Mavericks are a pretty new club, in Bacchus Marsh we’ve traditionally been affiliated with the Vixens.”<\/p>\n
The Cobras are in the process of advertising to their families that the tickets are available.<\/p>\n
The Melbourne Mavericks Community Roots program offered 20 clubs grants and tickets.<\/p>\n
This season is the Mavericks’ first in the Super Netball League, having won the licence made vacant by the folding of the Collingwood Magpies netball side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
