{"id":30462,"date":"2024-07-05T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=30462"},"modified":"2024-07-04T14:33:36","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T04:33:36","slug":"mclean-reserve-makeover-on-the-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/mclean-reserve-makeover-on-the-way\/","title":{"rendered":"McLean Reserve makeover on the way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A POPULAR Ballan reserve is set for a makeover, thanks to a $100,000 State Government grant.<\/p>\n<p>Member for Eureka Michaela Settle announced the funding on Wednesday, earmarked for a new sheltered gathering space, updated signage, and new playground equipment.<\/p>\n<p>This grant is part of a $5.5 million investment across the Grampians region through the state&#8217;s Council Support Package.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to boost tourism, improve local infrastructure, and strengthen businesses.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s understood Moorabool Shire will contribute the remainder of the necessary funding and carry out the works. Ms Settle said the package had already supported more than 25 projects across regional Victoria. &#8220;A strong community comes from strong investment in our people,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;McLean Reserve is where families and friends come together, have some fun, and get involved &#8211; we&#8217;re making it easier for them to do that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/07\/IMG_1652_71446.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Member for Eureka Michaela Settle and Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Ally Munari.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Located at the corner of Fisken and Inglis Streets, McLean Reserve is named after A.A. McLean, a former Ballan Shire secretary and engineer who retired in 1975 after 45 years in local government.<\/p>\n<p>Moorabool Shire Council released concept designs for the upgrades in October, after seeking public feedback on the reserve last year.<\/p>\n<p>Concept designs released in January revealed plans for an upgraded playspace, plaza and seating, new toilets and an open lawn area opposite the Aleppo Pine.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes weeks after the shire began construction on the new Ballan library nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Work to dismantle the old Commonwealth Bank building on Inglis Street began on 7 June with the site soon to be home to the new Ballan Library and Community Hub.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A POPULAR Ballan reserve is set for a makeover, thanks to a $100,000 State Government grant.
