THE next generation of young learners in the Gordon area will soon be able to do their early learning closer to home thanks to funding from the State Government.<\/p>\n
Kindergarten facilities are set to arrive at Gordon Primary School in time for term one in 2026, with the institution to share in cash through the $14 billion Best Start, Best Life program.<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle announced the development on Monday morning and said the kinder addition will keep kids learning in Gordon.<\/p>\n
“It’s going to be co-located at the primary school and this is going to mean so much to families,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Having been a mother who’s done the pickup and drop-off, when you’re going from kinder to schools, it eats up your time, so it’s being able to bring your children to their primary school and kinder at once.<\/p>\n
“It also creates a community spirit and those younger children through kinder will get a sense of what it will be like to progress.”<\/p>\n
With 140 students currently enrolled at Gordon Primary School, the kindergarten facilities will cater for up to 119 young learners.<\/p>\n
Principal Russel Cowan said a co-located kindergarten is a massive boost for the community.<\/p>\n
“It’s about parent pickup and drop-off being simpler, the transition to school being easier, kindergarten partnerships being smoother,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It’s a positive for the whole community. This has been needed for many years now, and with the growth coming to Gordon, it’ll be very handy.<\/p>\n
“Currently, our parents have to go to Ballan or Wallace, travelling out of town, so to have a central kindergarten will be a real plus.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
