{"id":30978,"date":"2024-08-16T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=30978"},"modified":"2024-08-15T14:25:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-15T04:25:48","slug":"artwork-to-enliven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/living\/artwork-to-enliven\/","title":{"rendered":"Artwork to enliven Ballan Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL artists are being invited to submit expressions of interest to have their work displayed at Ballan Station.<\/p>\n<p>The call-out is part of a collaboration between local government, Metro Trains, Yarra Trams, V\/Line and VicTrack to bring life to transport hubs through the installation of local art.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest are open to artists based in the Moorabool Shire and the artwork should reflect Ballan and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>Lou Callow, local artist and member of Wombat Regional Arts Network, said it is important to foster creativity in the community through initiatives like this.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s not just about artists, it&#8217;s about uplifting people,&#8221; she said. &#8220;If you walk up the street and you see something that makes you feel happy or smile, which for us is what community arts is about, you feel like you&#8217;re part of something.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The successful proposal will have broad appeal and resonate with both a local and visiting audience.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/08\/IMG_3861_67634.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The chosen artwork will reflect Ballan and surrounding areas.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The finished piece will be digitally reproduced on vinyl wraps and displayed on concrete pillars.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Anything that helps people feel good, is really important,&#8221; said Callow. &#8220;And sometimes artwork&#8217;s not always straight forward, it can raise questions and make you think.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Cr Ally Munari urged the community to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We encourage local artists and photographers to apply for this expression of interest for the opportunity to have their art showcased at Ballan Railway Station,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an exciting partnership&#8230; that will reflect the passion and creativity of our local artists and hopefully inspire passers-by.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Applications can be made on the Moorabool Shire website and close 6 September 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LOCAL artists are being invited to submit expressions of interest to have their work displayed at Ballan Station.
