{"id":31234,"date":"2024-09-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-08T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=31234"},"modified":"2024-09-04T17:33:14","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T07:33:14","slug":"moorabool-pups-could-enjoy-new-parks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/moorabool-pups-could-enjoy-new-parks\/","title":{"rendered":"Moorabool pups could enjoy new parks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE State Government has announced it will spend five million to build new or upgraded dog parks across Victoria and the Member for Melton Steve McGhie is encouraging the local council to put forward ideas for new dog parks in the Moorabool Shire or existing parks that need an upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>The money is being made available in the second round of the New and Upgraded Dog Parks program.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Quality, green open spaces close to home are so important to the health and wellbeing of our local communities \u2013 giving our dog owners and their beloved furry companions a new &#8216;leash&#8217; on life,&#8221; Mr McGhie said.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for grant funding of up to $100,000 or up to $300,000 are available for projects that enable people to socialise and exercise their dogs off-leash in areas of greatest need.<\/p>\n<p>This investment in more green spaces close to home also supports the health and wellbeing of dog owners.<\/p>\n<p>Funding will primarily be for purpose-built facilities for dogs and their owners to enjoy such as new dog parks, upgrades and additions to existing off-leash areas that can include designated ball play areas, sand digging pits, agility equipment, drinking fountains, fencing, shelters, bins, landscaping and lighting.<\/p>\n<p>Dog park locations will be announced in early 2025 following a competitive grants process.
