{"id":31928,"date":"2024-10-25T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-24T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=31928"},"modified":"2024-10-23T23:40:32","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T12:40:32","slug":"invite-to-hit-bmx-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/invite-to-hit-bmx-track\/","title":{"rendered":"Invite to hit BMX track"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS of the Bacchus Marsh BMX Club are encouraging people to give the bike-riding sport a go with a come and try event this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place from 1pm tomorrow at the club&#8217;s Maddingley base, club secretary Juliette Holland said the event is about introducing attendees to an exciting sport.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s an opportunity for people to come down and try something a little bit different,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/10\/IMG_1947_53941.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ll have two to three of our club coaches instructing people on riding around the track.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s quite a high hill start and lots of rolls and jumps and an all-dirt track. Photo: TIM BOTTAMS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The roughly-500-metre-long BMX track was opened in November 2019, and is open for public use when not being utilised by the club.<\/p>\n<p>Following the introduction, a friendly race will be held for club members which attendees are welcome to participate in.<\/p>\n<p>Members host two come and try events each year, and Ms Holland estimated about 20 to 25 riders are actively involved with the group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re hoping about 30 to 40 people attend,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a club, we&#8217;re always looking for new members and to build a base here in Bacchus Marsh so it&#8217;ll be good to see as many people as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/10\/IMG_1986_53969.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While the event is free, participants must register via <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/48eBEui\">bit.ly\/48eBEui<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees are encouraged to wear long-sleeve pants and jerseys and fully enclosed shoes, as well as bike helmets, gloves and bring BMX bikes should they have any.<\/p>\n<p>Some bikes will be available courtesy of the club.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEMBERS of the Bacchus Marsh BMX Club are encouraging people to give the bike-riding sport a go with a come and try event this weekend.
