\nGrade 5\/6 students at Bacchus Marsh Primary School were recently treated to a professional photographic workshop, capturing the imagination of many budding young artists in the digital world.
\nThe workshop, held on Thursday 24 July by the Moran Arts Foundation, saw each student receive a digital camera to use for the day, with the workshop exploring the art and technique of photography, a form of visual storytelling.
\nBacchus Marsh Primary School Visual Arts teacher Meghan Fromholtz said after seeing the workshop advertised for a few years, the school applied and became one of the successful applicants.
\n\u201cIn our application we focussed on being the first state school ever in Victoria, as well as our focus on \u2018positive education\u2019 \u2013 [with themes] such persistence and bravery \u2013 and that the students\u2019 photographs would focus on capturing that positive education,\u201d she said.
\nMs Fromholtz said the opportunity for the children was important as it \u201cprepares children for the modern day, and their ability to read visual imagery,\u201d as well as being able to \u201ccapture and interpret images\u201d.
\nFive of each student\u2019s favourite photographs were printed to keep as a souvenir of the day.
