{"id":32043,"date":"2024-11-01T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=32043"},"modified":"2024-10-31T10:05:37","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T23:05:37","slug":"bacchus-bulls-50thseason-to-be-a-big-hit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/bacchus-bulls-50thseason-to-be-a-big-hit\/","title":{"rendered":"Bacchus Bulls&#8217; 50th season to be a big hit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BACCHUS Marsh Cricket Club has started its fiftieth anniversary season in spectacular fashion.<\/p>\n<p>They beat 2023\/24 grand finalist Golden Point by 129 runs in the first round of Ballarat Cricket Association matches.<\/p>\n<p>It was the perfect start to a big season for the Bulls, who are planning a major celebration to mark the 50-year milestone with a big weekend in late February next year.<\/p>\n<p>The success against Golden Point was highlighted by 106 from Alex Porter and 48 from Josh McGrath, while Armi Wakefield snared 3\/24 from seven overs.<\/p>\n<p>The 3rd and 4th XI sides also won, with Rohan Lyle taking 6\/33 in the fourths.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/11\/BMCC02_38251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"507\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Up-and-coming wicketkeeper\/batsman Hayden Whiteway shows his style in the second grade match.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The club&#8217;s senior women&#8217;s team also won its round one T20 match against Lancefield Black, with Tomeka Fowlie smashing 52 from just 22 balls and retiring not out in a match score of 2\/166 to Lancefield&#8217;s 3\/113.<\/p>\n<p>With on-field results falling into place \u2013 and despite several players moving on during the off-season \u2013 club president David Kraljik is &#8216;bullish&#8217; about this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our numbers are fantastic; there&#8217;s a lot of positivity around the club at the moment, which is great,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t be happier at the moment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Bulls have a new senior coach, left arm fast bowler Sam Crea, who has signed on for two years after moving to Bacchus Marsh.<\/p>\n<p>He was previously at Victorian Turf Cricket Association club Grand United.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/11\/BMCC03_45418.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"310\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Whack: First XI wicketkeeper\/batsman Jayden White-Powell opens the innings with a classy shot through mid-wicket. It will be open to anyone who wants to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;re only 50 once, right?&#8221; he said. &#8220;So we want to make it as big as possible.
