{"id":32749,"date":"2024-12-20T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-19T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=32749"},"modified":"2024-12-17T21:16:45","modified_gmt":"2024-12-17T10:16:45","slug":"ballan-cricket-club-in-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/ballan-cricket-club-in-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Ballan Cricket Club in action!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLAN Cricket Club&#8217;s game of the week was the under-fifteens&#8217; round six match against Golden Point.<\/p>\n<p>Ballan (129) defeated Golden Point (87) with batters, Clover McIlwaine (52), Kori Davenport (13 n.o), and Jackson Letcher (nine.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/12\/IMG_4930_34980.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"463\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Second top scorer for Ballan&#8217;s 1st XI, Ryan Lister with 51.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bowlers were Clover McIlwaine (six overs, 3\/10), Sarah Burton (six-point-four overs, 2\/7), Riley Storer (four overs, 2\/8), and Jackson Letcher (four overs, 1\/21).<\/p>\n<p>Day one saw a great team effort in the field with two valuable run outs care of Banjo and JB.<\/p>\n<p>Tight bowling from Sarah and Eamon built pressure directly onto the opposition, along with Riley who picked up two wickets.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/12\/IMG_4738_35017.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"529\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Austin Farron bowling for Ballan&#8217;s U13 team.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A solid opening batting start saw off the opposition&#8217;s opening bowlers as Clover and Sarah put on a 31 run partnership before Sarah popped one up to be caught.<\/p>\n<p>Eamon quickly followed when a defensive shot went back under his bat. Enter Jacko where his efforts and training had paid off, playing balanced genuine cricket shots putting on a 43 run partnership with Clover before having one go through the gate with three balls left to play in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Clover kept her head all the way through the innings batting to be 29 n.o.<\/p>\n<p>On day two, the team were in a great position to get their first win of the season. The team decided that they&#8217;d go for it.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2024\/12\/CloverMcIlwaine-maid_31340.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"975\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clover McIlwaine, maiden 50.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Captains Sarah and Clover took the ball, Sarsey set super aggressive fields with three slips and a gully, short cover and short mid-wicket.
