BACCHUS Marsh Little Athletics Centre members have reached the halfway mark of the season with ten meets conducted so far.<\/p>\n
The club has 254 registered athletes who have broken 14 centre records, and 2799 personal bests have been achieved.<\/p>\n
Ten athletes have achieved 20 or more personal bests this season, 48 teams competed at the region relay carnival and eight teams progressed to the state championships.<\/p>\n
There was a record number of sponsors who supported the centre.<\/p>\n
Committee member Linda Thompson said it is great to see the growth of the club coming into 2025.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had a substantial increase from last year,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s a really great atmosphere around the centre this year with the excitement from the kids and we’ve had lots of new parents who are willing to help out.”<\/p>\n
Ms Thompson thanked the club’s volunteers for their support over the first half of the season.<\/p>\n
“‘Our volunteers are amazing, we have a great bunch,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We rely on volunteers, it’s a volunteer-based sport\u2026 our volunteers this year have been wonderful, and we have lots of new members.”<\/p>\n
The season will commence again at the end of January and Ms Thompson said there are a busy few months ahead.<\/p>\n
“The second half of the season is always very busy, and we have a lot of major events,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We have a fair few individual state championships and regional championships.”<\/p>\n
The club is also planning on holding a relayathon in March to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
