TWO young Bacchus Marsh basketballers have represented Country Victoria at the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup.<\/p>\n
Under 13 players Avery Edwards and Myla Triantafilou were part of the Top Age Under 14s at the five-day tournament held earlier in the month at Albury\/Wodonga, and their team placed sixth.<\/p>\n
Avery’s mother Ally Edwards said the pair’s selection in the team of 10 regional Victorians was a huge achievement. Throughout the week, they played nine games.<\/p>\n
“It’s very exciting for the town of Bacchus Marsh to have not only one but two representatives in this pilot bottom-age team,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It was an incredible development opportunity for them as they begin their journey on the Basketball Victoria development pathway.<\/p>\n
“They were both selected from the top 120 players in Country Victoria from the Under 12s Country Jamboree tournament played back in September.<\/p>\n
“This was a pilot program to give these junior basketballers a taste of state representative basketball.”<\/p>\n
Bacchus Marsh’s April Sa’u also took part in the tournament, winning gold representing Victoria.<\/p>\n
Young people from New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and New Zealand also travelled to Albury\/Wodonga to compete.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
