He currently trains five-days a week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen he was little, he used to ask how many more sleeps until he can play soccer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Mate will train at Real Madrid twice a day, as well as playing junior tournaments against other clubs. <\/p>\n<p>He will also attend live Real Madrid LaLiga soccer matches, tour soccer stadiums, and train for five days in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really like the fun of playing soccer,\u201d said Mate.<\/p>\n<p>His favourite soccer player is Luka Modric, who also plays for Real Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>Mate is a Grade 3 student at Ballan\u2019s St Brigid\u2019s PS.<\/p>\n<p>To assist with Mate&#8217;s soccer journey, donations can be made on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/mate-is-going-to-real-madrid?utm_source=customer&amp;utm_medium=copy_link&amp;utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet\">GoFundMe page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Meg Kennedy Young soccer superstar Mate Marinovic is headed to one of the most popular soccer cities in the world.
