{"id":33488,"date":"2025-02-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=33488"},"modified":"2025-02-19T22:38:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-19T11:38:25","slug":"a-week-of-character-building-for-bcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/a-week-of-character-building-for-bcc\/","title":{"rendered":"A week of character building for BCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RATHER than wins, losses and washouts were the theme for Ballan Cricket Club last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The under-13 team struggled against a strong Coronet City side but four of BCC&#8217;s batters got through their first 20 balls not out against some tidy bowling.<\/p>\n<p>Their strong batting took to BCC&#8217;s attack but the club was proud of their persistence and for keeping their spirits up.<\/p>\n<p>With the first of three women&#8217;s T20 games to finish off the season, BCC were back at home. The club lost the toss and were sent into field.<\/p>\n<p>Again, they were treated to another excellent display of batting from the opposition but this time from both ends, who piled on a massive total of 204, including a century from one of their openers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/02\/IMG_7223_68815.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"424\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kiara Grigg top scored for Ballan&#8217;s U13&#8217;s with 8 not out.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Their pressure made it hard to maintain tidyness in the field and with the ball.<\/p>\n<p>BCC then went into bat. Kori started fast, belting three boundaries before being bowled in the second over for 14.<\/p>\n<p>Summer (26 no) again anchored the innings, putting on solid partnerships with Sami (11), Sav and her sister, Mariah to ensure that we batted out our 20 overs.<\/p>\n<p>In the under-15s, Ballan versus Mount Clear was supposed to be a two-day, 50 over game. However due to rain, the first day\u2019s play was abandoned after nine overs only being completed with Mount Clear batting solidly to 0\/55.
