MOORABOOL Shire Council’s big summer read program has seen local children read more than 10 books over their summer holidays.<\/p>\n
The program ran throughout December and January and 15 children were awarded more than $600 worth of prizes including book and movie vouchers, stationery packs and the grand prize of a $200 EFTPOS card.<\/p>\n
“I’m so impressed with all the local kids who read a combined 1500 plus books over summer as part of our library’s big summer read,” mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.<\/p>\n
“Congratulations to our 15 winners who will share in more than $600 in prizes.<\/p>\n
“They’ve all put in an outstanding effort, and I hope they enjoyed, learned new things and had fun reading the books they chose.”<\/p>\n
Cr Tatchell encouraged local children to continue reading.<\/p>\n
“Literacy is so important,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We want our young kids reading as it’s vital for their development, so these young ones are leading the way.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
