{"id":33846,"date":"2025-03-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=33846"},"modified":"2025-03-19T18:46:56","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T07:46:56","slug":"fest-brings-autumn-fun-to-ballan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/fest-brings-autumn-fun-to-ballan\/","title":{"rendered":"Fest brings autumn fun to Ballan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MORE than 3500 people roamed the streets of Ballan last Sunday during the annual Ballan Autumn Festival \u2013 a celebration of local culture, creativity and community.<\/p>\n<p>The town&#8217;s closed roads were lined with stalls, displays, entertainment, and participants in the ever-popular parade which Ballan Autumn Festival Association president Kevin Harper said was a highlight for locals as usual.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/03\/IMG_9268_94568.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"434\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ballan District Vintage Machinery and Vehicle Club&#8217;s Ian Erwin and Ray Meadows.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone in Ballan was represented, from nursery schools through to nursing homes,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There were at least 45 entrants in the parade and it went for about 37 minutes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although it was a grey and drizzly day, Mr Harper said the community still came out in force.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Only three of 126 stalls didn&#8217;t turn up, and we had a good range of quality stalls,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/03\/IMG_9272_94567.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"476\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bacchus Marsh SES members Lukace Knight, Norma Trotter and Mary-Beth Littlejohn.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Because it was cold, the food stalls did very well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our local entertainers braved the wind and rain to keep us all entertained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The pet show had 17 entries and ran almost in a hail storm at one point, but the dogs were performing and knew there were some treats for them at the end.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Attendees came back from previous years, not just from Ballan, and our local farmers were rejoicing that we had rain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33856\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33856\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33856\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/03\/IMG_9273_76589-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1110\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33856\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bacchus Marsh SES members Lukace Knight, Norma Trotter and Mary-Beth Littlejohn.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ballan District Vintage Machinery and Vehicle Club&#8217;s Ray Meadows said he had been part of the festival since the 1980s, showcasing steam engines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We enjoy interacting with people and telling them all about our hobby,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_33857\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-33857\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-33857\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/03\/IMG_9293_94603-1-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"1058\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-33857\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Moorabool Environment Group&#8217;s Mara Hayler and Moira Smith.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Moorabool Environment Group&#8217;s Mara Hayler and Moira Smith had their own stall, advocating for environmental issues in the area.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important to us to keep people aware of what&#8217;s going on,&#8221;
