{"id":33859,"date":"2025-03-21T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-20T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=33859"},"modified":"2025-03-19T19:53:29","modified_gmt":"2025-03-19T08:53:29","slug":"labor-makes-moorapool-pledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/labor-makes-moorapool-pledge\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor makes &#8216;Moorapool&#8217; pledge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Australian Labor Party has committed to inject $25 million into the establishment of a new indoor aquatic centre at Bacchus Marsh if it wins the federal election later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Federal Member for Hawke Sam Rae made the announcement on Monday morning and said the Moorabool Aquatic and Recreation Centre-based pool is needed in the rapidly growing town.<\/p>\n<p>The federal funds would allow the project to go ahead, with $15 million already allocated by the Moorabool Shire Council and $10 million committed by the State Government.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This project is so important to the Bacchus Marsh community, and I&#8217;m thrilled that we&#8217;ve secured the funding to make it a reality,&#8221; Mr Rae said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/03\/DSC06356_56606.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"505\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The pool would be constructed at the Moorabool Aquatic and Recreation Centre.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Labor is delivering essential infrastructure that supports local families and residents in our region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This investment will ensure Bacchus Marsh has the pool facilities it needs for generations to come.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If built, the indoor aquatic centre will aim to boost residents&#8217; health and wellbeing by catering to recreational swimmers, offering swimming lessons, rehabilitation and water safety programs.<\/p>\n<p>Many Bacchus Marsh residents, including members of the MooraPool group, have been long-term campaigners for pool funding.<\/p>\n<p>Also present at the announcement of the pledge were Anthony McGrath from MooraPool, Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, and Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, alongside campaigners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Australian Labor Party has committed to inject $25 million into the establishment of a new indoor aquatic centre at Bacchus Marsh if it wins the federal election later this year.
