VISITORS to St Anne’s Winery in Garrards Lane Myrniong on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April can expect to find an unusually robust fleet of vehicles on the grounds as part of the first-ever Myrniong Military Muster.<\/p>\n
This event is billed as a show and shine for all club or registered and tracked military forms of transport.<\/p>\n
Organiser Wayne Frisch of the Victorian Military Vehicle Corps, who is currently restoring a World War II Jeep formerly used by the Australian Army and the Australian Air Force, said St Anne’s was chosen as the location for a specific reason.<\/p>\n
“Angus (McLean) has 200 acres there and the attraction of that is we can use the vehicles off the road,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It’s a little bit left of centre in that it’s not only a show and shine \u2013 we can get the vehicles moving around and the owners can drive them in their element.”<\/p>\n
He said as this is the first time the event has been held, it is essentially a trial to see what sort of interest it attracts.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got a couple of World War II Jeeps that will be there and we’re hoping to get some trucks and track vehicles plus some Dodge Weapons Carriers,” he said.<\/p>\n
“We’re also hoping to get the Geelong Military Re-enactment Group there with some vehicles and perhaps even an artillery piece.”<\/p>\n
The inaugural Myrniong Military Muster takes place at St Anne’s Winery on Saturday 5 April and Sunday 6 April from 9.30am.<\/p>\n
St Anne’s cellar door will be open both days from 10am with pizza and live music on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
