{"id":34291,"date":"2025-04-26T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-25T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=34291"},"modified":"2025-04-24T15:28:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-24T05:28:20","slug":"bacchus-marsh-becomes-state-bmx-capital-for-a-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/bacchus-marsh-becomes-state-bmx-capital-for-a-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Bacchus Marsh becomes state BMX capital for a day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS of riders in various age groups and categories will converge on Bacchus Marsh for Round 7 of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing Victoria State Series on Sunday 4 May.<\/p>\n<p>The Bacchus Marsh BMX Club will host a round of the series for the third time at the Bacchus Marsh Racecourse Recreation Reserve track in Maddingley, following successful instalments in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Club president Juliette Holland said with families and support personnel, as many as 1000 people could be at the venue on the day.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a big day of racing; it&#8217;s a big step up from club racing,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/04\/BacchusMarshBMXApri_40196.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As many as 500 riders will compete at the Bacchus Marsh venue.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Spectators will be welcome to watch the action free of charge, and Ms Holland said there is ample space at the venue for viewing the racing.<\/p>\n<p>The annual eight-round series is the premier level of BMX competition in Victoria, with successful competitors eligible to progress to national competition.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Holland said the club is expecting up to 500 riders from throughout Victoria and possibly interstate to compete at the event.<\/p>\n<p>She said many entries would come from the eastern side of Melbourne \u2013 from clubs in Frankston, Knox, Lilydale and Park Orchards \u2013 while clubs from the west and north of the city such as Bacchus Marsh, Ballarat, Sunbury, Werribee, Geelong and Mildura would be represented.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Holland said the club was grateful for local support in organising and hosting the event, and was particularly thankful for sponsorship from the Community Bank Bacchus Marsh and Melton Toyota, which she said had helped make the day happen.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/04\/BacchusMarshBMXApri_55707.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"798\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Bacchus Marsh BMX Club will be hosting a round of the series for the third time.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Age groups and categories for the day will include Mini Wheelers, Sprockets, Challenge, Challenge Cruiser, Junior Superclass, Superclass, and Masters.<\/p>\n<p>Official practice is scheduled to start at 8.30am, with racing to take place from 11am to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>Prize money and medals will be awarded, while all Mini Wheelers and Sprockets will receive an award for participation.<\/p>\n<p>Round 8 of the series is scheduled for Sunbury on 22 June.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><\/div>\n<p>AusCycling is the national governing body for cycling in Australia, and represents the interests of affiliated cycling clubs and individual members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HUNDREDS of riders in various age groups and categories will converge on Bacchus Marsh for Round 7 of the 2025 AusCycling BMX Racing Victoria State Series on Sunday 4 May.
