{"id":34537,"date":"2025-05-09T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-08T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=34537"},"modified":"2025-05-08T12:34:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-08T02:34:15","slug":"community-invited-to-acknowledge-idahobit-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/community-invited-to-acknowledge-idahobit-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Community invited to acknowledge IDAHOBIT Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MOORABOOL Shire Council staff are inviting the community to join them at the Ballan Council Office to acknowledge IDAHOBIT Day.<\/p>\n<p>IDAHOBIT is held annually on 17 May, the date in 1990 that homosexuality was removed from the World Health Organisation classification of diseases.<\/p>\n<p>Local residents are encouraged to stand against discrimination faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Council is once again celebrating IDAHOBIT Day with a flag-raising ceremony in Ballan, just as we have done the past few years,&#8221; Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been a fantastic event in the past and we&#8217;re expecting the same this year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The event will include the flag-raising ceremony followed by morning tea, where residents and others can connect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We invite everyone in the community, whether they be from the LGBTQIA+ community or just want to show support to those who are, and to stand against homophobia,&#8221; Cr Tatchell said.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moorabool.vic.gov.au\/Home\">Moorabool Shire Council<\/a> website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOORABOOL Shire Council staff are inviting the community to join them at the Ballan Council Office to acknowledge IDAHOBIT Day.
