{"id":34644,"date":"2025-05-18T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-17T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=34644"},"modified":"2025-05-16T15:12:58","modified_gmt":"2025-05-16T05:12:58","slug":"events-to-recognise-reconciliation-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/events-to-recognise-reconciliation-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Events to recognise Reconciliation Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MOORABOOL Shire Council is recognising National Reconciliation Week with two flag-raising ceremonies on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Wadawurrung Country.<\/p>\n<p>The events will be held on Tuesday 27 May and Friday 30 May in Bacchus Marsh and Ballan respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Each event will include a Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony and flag raising followed by light morning tea.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Council always marks Reconciliation Week with special events in the shire,&#8221; mayor Cr Paul Tatchell said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We encourage residents to come along and take part in these events and celebrate one of the themes of this year&#8217;s Reconciliation Week which is strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>National Reconciliation Week runs from Tuesday 27 May to Tuesday 3 June, recognising the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme is Bridging Now to Next, which reflects the connections between the past, present and future.<\/p>\n<p>Australians are called to look to the future with past lessons as a guide.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more information, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moorabool.vic.gov.au\/Home\">Moorabool Shire Council<\/a> website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOORABOOL Shire Council is recognising National Reconciliation Week with two flag-raising ceremonies on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Wadawurrung Country.
