THE State Government\u2019s L2P Program has reached one million hours of helping young people learn to drive.<\/p>\n

The program, which has operated since 2009, matches learner drivers aged 16 to 21-years-old who cannot access a car or a supervising driver with a fully licensed volunteered mentor and a car.<\/p>\n

More than 7500 volunteers take part in the program and have assisted more than 23,000 young drivers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe TAC L2P Program plays a vital role in empowering and enhancing a young person\u2019s confidence by teaching them to drive safely and reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities among young drivers,\u201d Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGaining a licence also enhances a young person\u2019s confidence and social independence allowing them to engage with their friends and community, helping them access employment opportunities and education.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volunteers are provided training and access to a L2P car.<\/p>\n
