{"id":34963,"date":"2025-06-14T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-13T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/?p=34963"},"modified":"2025-06-13T01:19:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-12T15:19:04","slug":"young-scorpion-scores-at-country-champs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/young-scorpion-scores-at-country-champs\/","title":{"rendered":"Young Scorpion scores at Country Champs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>YOUNG Bacchus Marsh Scorpions soccer player, Henry, has won the 2025 Country Championships Under 11 Boys trophy title with the Ballarat District Soccer Association representative team.<\/p>\n<p>At the tournament in Albury over the long weekend, the team coached by Paul Frary played two games a day and ended their campaign with five wins, one draw and one loss.<\/p>\n<p>They beat Sunraysia in the final 1-0.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I enjoyed getting to know people and making new friends,&#8221; Henry said. &#8220;We were more than a team.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34968\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-34968\" style=\"width: 602px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-34968 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/timesnewsbt-19.jpg?_t=1749689566\" alt=\"Young soccer champion\" width=\"602\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/timesnewsbt-19.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/timesnewsbt-19-300x158.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/timesnewsbt-19-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/timesnewsbt-19-768x403.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-34968\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Henry has been playing soccer with the Scorpions for two years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&#8220;We played some tough games&#8230; I&#8217;m really grateful to have gone.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My goal is to make it to the A-League.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mum Emma Robilliard said the final was a tough game from two talented sides, and those cheering along on the sidelines were proud to see the young athletes shine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Henry&#8217;s team was a great little bunch of mates,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The team consisted of kids from Daylesford, Ballarat, Forest Rangers, Ballarat City, and Bacchus Marsh.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a phenomenal effort from the Ballarat District Soccer Association to get everybody in, and a long trial period to give everyone a chance of making the team.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2025\/06\/HenryCountryChamps_28914.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"978\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Henry holds the 2025 Country Championships Under 11 Boys trophy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Albury-Wodonga hosted the tournament, which was really well run.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Henry was selected in the under 11 squad of 16 from about 85 children who trialled. He has been playing for two years, and supports Melbourne City Football Club.<\/p>\n<p>The Ballarat District Soccer Association has won the boys&#8217; under 11 Country Championship two years in a row.
